cashel's first halloween

cashel had his first halloween this year! he was yoda and i was a frazzled mom (thanks, mary, for the idea!) it was so much fun. his daycare did a celebration that included a parade of kids. the bigger kids gathered around a big circle and the parents paraded our little ones around the circle twice. afterwards they had food provided and did fun stuff like circle song time where we got to watch our little ones in action. cash enjoyed shaking a marble container to the music and dancing. we have two videos here, one is pre-parade and the other one is the parade. enjoy!

you may have noticed....

....my last post was September 7, 2009. today is October 29, 2009. it's been a while huh? well...in the last two months i went back to work and, needless to say, i've been busy and unable/too tired to write. sorry. i'm at a school called polytechnic school in pasadena, california. it's awesome! i have great kids, 15 in two classes and 13 in the other. that's right, only three classes. well, i do teach a lab three times a week but that's no big deal because i prep for that once. cash is doing great in daycare. i made jason take him on his first day and jason told me he cried in the car after dropping him off. aw. how sweet. well, since it is October 29 i have some halloween stuff to take care of. i'll write more about this later. i promise.

cash is funny

this little boy has such a great personality. jason calls him the coolest kid he knows. jason doesn't know a lot of kids right now but i think he's right. cash is very, very cool. just check it out:

natural disasters

our first four months here in la have been great. we've really gotten settled into our house. i've met several other moms who get together with and without the kids. i know my neighborhood pretty well. i mean, there's still lots more to learn but we love it here so far.

i must admit that i didn't expect to get indoctrinated into socal natural disasters so soon. two weeks after we moved here we experienced a 4.5 earthquake and now there are wild fires everywhere! (ok - not anymore but I drafted this post and have finally gotten back to it) well by everywhere, i mean in the forests. i now totally get the smoky the bear commercials from growing up. i thought fire fighters in nj/ny we're great but the firefighters here are amazing. i mean really, right now, there is a huge - huge - like 20,000 acre fire burning in the angeles national forest, about 14 miles north of us, and it's about 100 degrees here at our house! i've become obsessed with this fire. here are some pictures taken from our deck to prove it. btw - all is fine now but it sure was crazy for a while!

cash was real fussy today. he just might be cutting his eighth tooth - that's right - i said eighth! poor little thing. but let me tell you what...he said mama today to me for the first time! oh it was so sweet. he crawled up to me crying, stood up against my legs, held his arms up and said mama! he's got me right where he wants me.
