7 months

i can't believe our boy is 7 months old!  i was looking at video earlier of him when he was just days and weeks old - he was so tiny!  i told jason that as long as i live that's what i'll say.  he is pushing 20 pounds now and you would never guess that he was born 5 weeks early - 5.6 pounds.  no way.  this kid is so heavy now.  he is so much fun.  i am grateful every day that i have a husband who believes it is as important as i do that cash get as much time with a stay-at-home mom as we can give.  by the time i go back to work in late august he will be about 9 and a half months old.  that's pretty good i think.  cash and i enjoy every day together.  jason doesn't have to go to work until 11am which means he gets to spend the mornings playing with little cashman.  cash still LOVES his jumperoo and he enjoys me reading to him but mostly fights for the book so he can - you guessed it - shove it in his mouth!  he is babbling away and is eating some solids.  so far he has enjoyed apples, carrots, prunes, sweet potatoes, bananas, sweet peas and oatmeal.  in about a week he and i will be flying the friendly skies to north carolina to visit family.  wish us luck on the plane.  we can't wait!

all i want in life is to shove things in my mouth

i'm a very simple boy these days...
all i want in life is to shove things in my mouth...
it doesn't matter where i am...
the good news is that it means i know where food goes...
the bad news is that it means that nothing is off limits as far as i'm concerned which makes it hard on mommy when we're out...we're going to a playdate soon at a park that has sand...uh oh...

master negotiators

after an extensive search (and the only person who actually met our criteria) jason and i have found a babysitter for cashel.  she is a tulane university student (catherine a.k.a."cooper") home for the summer and while she hasn't yet sat for us, i have a good feeling about her....and i'll actually be here when she sits refreshing my memory/learning physics for my upcoming jaunt into private school education where parents-pay-bookoos-of-$-to-send-their-child-to-this-school-so-the-teacher-better-know-what-the-heck-she-is-teaching!  anyhoo...she came over to meet us last saturday and cash was nothing but smiles for her.  what a charmer.  before she left i had this conversation with her:

robin: so i know your rate is a range.  what are you looking for for this job?

cooper: oh, yeah, i don't know...i normally get $10.00 an hour.

robin: oh...we'll pay you more than that!

cooper:  oh...ok.

robin: we'll why don't we both think about it and we'll decide later.

cooper: oh...ok.

after she left, jason called us both "master negotiators."

cashel is almost crawling!

here is my boy - almost crawling!  he's so close!  oh no - this means we have to baby proof the house i guess.  we'll also have to quarantine these two:

loki and laska have been doing amazingly well the the little boy.  when we first brought him home loki wasn't so happy.  she had to get used to his baby noises.  that's no problem now.  my bigger concern is that cash is getting interested in them and at some point he will probably crawl towards them.  hopefully they will just run away from him and hide somewhere.  so far it's been fine so i'm not too worried but we are still super cautious with them.  i know they love him - they just don't want to admit it.

I have no idea what to put here

I'm just filling up space
